2026 Land Rover Defender: Top 5 Highlights
The 2026 Land Rover Defender has been unveiled with several enhancements. This luxury off-roader maintains its iconic design but introduces subtle updates to the exterior and interior. Notable changes include a larger infotainment screen and refined styling elements. Here are five significant upgrades on the new Defender that enthusiasts should be aware of.
Exterior
The exterior of the 2026 Defender sees minimal alterations, retaining its classic look. However, there are detailed changes such as revised headlamps and taillights. The LED DRL now features a smaller centre section, while the taillights have a smoked finish. Additionally, fog lamps are standard, and the grille sports a gloss black-finished bar.

Land Rover has introduced new alloy wheels for the 2026 Defender, featuring 22-inch seven-spoke designs. The Octa and all V8 variants now offer a new colour option called Patagonia Matte White. The bonnet and fender inserts also receive a textured finish, enhancing the SUV's overall aesthetic appeal.
Accessories
The accessories package for the updated Defender includes more equipment than before. New additions consist of an expedition roof rack, crossbars, and underbody protection. A notable feature is the 4,500 kg winch available on the Octa variant with a carbon fibre cover. The longer Defender 130 now offers an integrated air compressor for tyre pressure adjustments during off-road adventures.
Interior
Inside, the 2026 Defender boasts a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous 11.4-inch unit. A new driver-facing infrared camera on the steering column monitors driver attention in line with European Union's GSR2 legislation. This system provides audio or visual alerts if inattentiveness is detected.
Powertrain
The powertrain lineup for the Defender remains unchanged with options including a 2.0-litre petrol engine, a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid (PHEV), a 3.0-litre diesel engine, and both 5.0-litre and 4.4-litre V8 engines. These engines are available across three body styles: 90 (3-door), 110 (5-door), and 130 (5-door long body).
Market Availability & Pricing
The Defender continues to arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and is available in all three body styles mentioned earlier. Prices start from Rs 1.05 crore and go up to Rs 2.79 crore (ex-showroom) for the new Defender Octa variant.
DriveSpark Thinks
The updated version is expected to reach Indian shores soon due to its CBU status, maintaining its position as one of JLR's top-selling models in India.
