Hyundai IONIQ 9 To Make Its Canadian Debut At The Montreal International Auto Show In January 2025
The IONIQ 9, Hyundai's first all-electric SUV with three rows, will debut in Canada at the Montreal Auto Show from January 17 to 26, 2025. This new model will be showcased alongside Hyundai's award-winning electric vehicles at le Palais des congrès de Montréal. The IONIQ 9 features a high-capacity 110.3 kWh battery that charges from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
Hyundai's booth will also display a restored 2008 Elantra that has traveled over a million kilometres, in collaboration with Roulez au Suivant. This unique exhibit highlights Hyundai's commitment to innovation and sustainability. The Elantra, now sporting a "Performance Blue" finish, is driven by a young enthusiast eager to continue its journey.
The IONIQ 9 represents Hyundai Motor's dedication to electrification as part of its goal to offer 23 EV models by 2030. Following the success of the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, which won multiple World Car of the Year Awards, the IONIQ 9 continues this legacy. With the longest wheelbase among Hyundai models at 3,130 mm, it offers an expansive cabin and striking design.
The vehicle's architecture is based on Hyundai's E-GMP platform, featuring an advanced PE system with improved efficiency for hill climbing and energy usage. The Long-Range RWD model has a 160 kW rear motor, while the AWD version adds a 70 kW front motor. Performance AWD models have dual 160 kW motors.
The IONIQ 9 boasts aerodynamic enhancements like a dual-motion active air flap system and aerodynamic wheels. Its interior includes a panoramic curved display, floating dashboard, slim air vents, and ambient lighting for a futuristic feel. With third-row seats folded flat, it provides up to 1,323 litres of luggage space.
Visitors to the Montreal Auto Show can explore Hyundai's entire vehicle lineup and participate in various activities at their booth. As the NHL® and NHLPA's Official Automotive Partner in Canada, Hyundai will host a shootout challenge with prizes. Driving simulators from the N vehicle lineup will cater to performance enthusiasts.
Exciting Activities at the Auto Show
A special contest celebrates the N Brand’s decade-long presence by offering participants a chance to win an N driving experience at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. To enter this contest, attendees must speak with a brand ambassador at the Hyundai booth during the show.
Steve Flamand from Hyundai Auto Canada expressed pride in Quebec’s support for their products: "Hyundai has a long history of success in Quebec...we recorded a 29 per cent sales increase in Quebec compared to the previous year." He noted that unveiling the IONIQ 9 in Montreal aligns with their electrified future vision.
