2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9 Electric SUV To Deliver Over 500 Kilometres Of Range Across All Models
The 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 9, a fully-electric three-row SUV, is set to redefine its segment with a range of 500 to 539 kilometres, depending on the model. Its robust 110.3 kWh battery charges from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. This addition enhances Canada's most awarded lineup of electric vehicles, offering both performance and practicality.

The IONIQ 9 Essential with rear-wheel drive achieves the longest range at 539 kilometres according to Natural Resources Canada. The Preferred all-wheel-drive model offers a range of 515 kilometres. Meanwhile, the Preferred AWD+ variant delivers an exhilarating 422 horsepower while maintaining a range of 500 kilometres.

The IONIQ 9 showcases Hyundai's commitment to electrification as part of its goal to offer a full lineup of 23 EV models by 2030. It follows the award-winning IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 models. The SUV features an expansive cabin with the longest wheelbase among Hyundai models at 3,130 mm.
The vehicle's design includes bold body volumes and intricately designed accents that add depth. A flowing rear wheel arch character line enhances its dynamic appearance. Built on Hyundai's E-GMP architecture, it features an optimized gear ratio for hill climbing and a two-stage inverter for improved efficiency.
Towing Capabilities and Advanced Systems
The IONIQ 9 offers impressive towing capabilities up to 5,000 lbs with intelligent trailer mode optimizing range predictions based on trailer weight. It maintains a fixed front-to-rear motor torque distribution ratio on AWD models for optimal performance.
The advanced PE system includes a high-voltage NCM lithium-ion battery mounted on the floor with an energy capacity of 110.3 kWh. The Long-Range RWD model uses a single rear motor producing 160 kW, while Long-Range AWD adds a front motor generating an additional 70 kW.
Availability in Canada
The Performance AWD models feature dual motors at both front and rear axles each producing 160 kW. Canadian dealerships will have the new IONIQ 9 available starting spring 2025.
