2026 Hyundai i20 Spied in India For The First Time - New Rear Design

The 2026 Hyundai i20 has been spotted testing. The upcoming hatchback was seen on the streets of Gurugram, where it was snapped by Rushlane. This is the first time the next-gen i20 has appeared on Indian roads.

The Spy images reveal the i20 test mule's rear three-quarters profile. Even under wraps, the i20 shows a sloping roofline and wider rear quarter panels. The design appears more rounded than the current model. Tail-lamp details and bumper contours remain covered by the heavy camouflage.

Viewed from the side, the 2026 Hyundai i20 shows a tapering roof that slopes downward toward the back. There are no roof rails present and the rear glass section and hatch door seem larger than before.

The overall shape suggests that Hyundai has applied elements from its current global design language to the i20. While the finer styling elements are hidden, the silhouette points toward a model that has been extensively reworked compared to the i20 currently on sale in India.

Under the skin, the 2026 Hyundai i20 is expected to continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. This motor is paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an automatic CVT option. These configurations are currently offered in India.

A sportier N Line trim is also part of the present range and may continue into the updated model. The N-Line variant is also expected to keep its 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit.

Interior updates on the upcoming hatchback could include new 10.25-inch twin displays - one for instrumentation and another for infotainment. The design of the dashboard and the overall cabin layout are likely to be revised in line with Hyundai's newer models. Additional features may include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS safety systems.

The 2026 Hyundai i20 seen on test shows Hyundai preparing a fresh take on its premium hatchback. More details about the model are expected to surface as road testing continues in the months ahead ahead of its expected launch next year.
