2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Launches With Enhanced Off-Road Features And V6 Power
The 2026 Honda Passport, a versatile SUV designed for adventure, is now available at dealerships. This model combines rugged design with off-road capabilities and excellent on-road performance. It comes in three main trims: RTL, TrailSport, and the new TrailSport Elite. The starting price for the Passport RTL is $44,750, excluding a $1,450 destination charge.
Honda has introduced the most off-road capable SUV in its lineup with the new Passport TrailSport. This model features an off-road-tuned suspension, enhanced all-wheel drive capabilities, robust steel skid plates, and specially designed all-terrain tires. These features are aimed at taking adventurers further into challenging terrains.
The top-tier TrailSport Elite trim offers advanced features like the TrailWatch™ camera system, perforated leather seats, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. Jessika Laudermilk from Honda National Auto Sales stated, "Passport plays a pivotal role in our Honda lineup, with the highest conquest rate of any Honda SUV and more buyers under-40 than key competitors in its segment."
Honda's commitment to safety is evident in the new Passport. It includes advanced active and passive safety technologies as standard across all models. These features comprise an improved suite of Honda Sensing® technologies and new airbags for enhanced protection.
The 2026 Passport has been redesigned with a "Born Wild" concept that emphasizes ruggedness and adventure capabilities. The bold backpack design theme enhances its appearance with a robust C-pillar and stronger roof rails. The matte black rear roof section allows users to lean equipment against it without damage.
Inside, the Passport offers an adventure-ready interior with increased cargo space and improved rear seat legroom. Standard tech includes a 10.2-inch digital driver display and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in compatibility.
Performance Upgrades
The 2026 Passport boasts a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 285 horsepower paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission for enhanced performance. The second-generation torque vectoring i-VTM4™ all-wheel drive system improves traction across various conditions.
TrailSport models feature unique off-road hardware like exclusive spring rates and damper valve tuning for improved ride comfort on rough terrains. New General Grabber all-terrain tires enhance performance on sand, mud, rocky terrain, and snow while remaining quiet on roads.
Customization Options
Honda offers an extensive line of Genuine Accessories to enhance the Passport's rugged capability further. Options include various wheels, rock sliders, and cargo accessories like MOLLE storage systems and a picnic table that doubles as a cargo shelf.
The Passport can be customized with seven post-production option packages such as the Adventure Package or Pet Package to suit different needs. A Blackout Package adds aggressive styling elements like black alloy wheels and badges.
Manufacturing Excellence
The second-generation Passport continues to be manufactured at Honda's plant in Lincoln, Alabama. This facility has produced nearly 10 million light trucks since 2001 using domestic and globally-sourced parts.
Honda's extensive lineup includes vehicles like the Civic, Accord, HR-V, CR-V alongside electrified options such as the Prologue SUV. In 2024 alone over 99% of Hondas sold in America were made locally reflecting their commitment towards building close-to-customer products.
