2026 Honda CR-V Launches TrailSport Hybrid With Enhanced Technology And Rugged Design
The 2026 Honda CR-V is set to enhance its appeal with the introduction of a new TrailSport Hybrid model and additional standard technology features. This refreshed version will arrive at dealerships in the spring, offering a larger touchscreen, wireless charging, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The CR-V has been America's top-selling SUV for 25 years, and this latest update aims to maintain its popularity.
The new CR-V TrailSport Hybrid stands out as the first Honda SUV to merge rugged TrailSport design with the award-winning two-motor hybrid-electric system. It features trail-ready all-terrain tires and enhanced traction management for improved off-road performance. This model is part of Honda's strategy to increase hybrid-electric vehicle sales, which now account for 30% of all Honda brand sales.
Honda's CR-V lineup includes three turbocharged trims: LX, EX, and EX-L, along with four hybrid-powered trims: Sport Hybrid, TrailSport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The hybrid models are positioned at the top of the lineup and represent over half of CR-V sales. "Our best-selling Honda CR-V is now even more of an industry benchmark," said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales.
The 2026 CR-V offers more standard features than ever before. It includes a larger 9-inch HD touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a wireless phone charger. Higher trims like the EX-L, TrailSport Hybrid, Sport-L Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid feature a 10.2-inch full digital instrument display with user-selectable functions.
The rugged exterior design has been updated with aggressive 18-inch wheel designs and a new Ash Green Metallic color exclusive to TrailSport. The hybrid models boast bolder styling compared to non-hybrids, featuring polished stainless steel exhaust finishers and larger wheels on the top Sport Touring Hybrid trim.
Safety Innovations
Safety remains a priority for Honda's sixth-generation CR-V. It includes the Honda Sensing suite of safety technologies as standard across all models. This suite offers features like blind spot information (BSI), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The CR-V also comes equipped with ten airbags designed to reduce head rotation during collisions. Additional safety features include front occupant knee airbags, rear-passenger side impact airbags, Rear Seatbelt Reminder, and Rear Seat Reminder.
Manufacturing Excellence
The fourth-generation Honda two-motor hybrid-electric power unit is produced at the Honda Transmission Plant in Ohio. It's paired with a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine made at the Anna Engine Plant in Ohio. Major components like the block and cylinder head are manufactured there as well.
The sixth-generation CR-V continues its production legacy in North America at three plants: East Liberty Auto Plant in Ohio, Indiana Auto Plant, and Alliston Auto Plant in Canada. Since 2006, over three million CR-Vs have been produced in the U.S., using both domestic and globally-sourced parts.
