2025 Ram 2500 And 3500 Heavy Duty Trucks Unveiled With Enhanced Towing And Advanced Technology
Ram has introduced its 2025 heavy-duty trucks, featuring a new 6.7-litre Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine. This engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission, enhancing the trucks' performance. Tim Kuniskis noted that over 70% of Ram's heavy-duty customers prefer diesel engines. The 2025 Ram 2500 offers up to 1075 lb.-ft. of torque, marking a significant improvement from previous models.
The 2025 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models provide two engine choices: the new Cummins Turbo Diesel and the standard 6.4-litre HEMI V-8. The Cummins engine, combined with the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed transmission, allows for a towing capacity of up to 36,610 pounds with a more efficient rear axle ratio. This setup improves fuel efficiency without sacrificing power.
The new Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel engine delivers 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque, while the HEMI V-8 offers 405 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. The maximum towing capacity for diesel models is set at 36,610 pounds, with a payload capacity reaching up to 7,590 pounds for gas models.
The latest Ram trucks incorporate advanced technology features like the Uconnect system with improved touchscreen displays. A new passenger screen offers navigation and entertainment options visible only to the front passenger. The system supports HDMI connections for device mirroring through Uconnect.
Additional innovations include an on-board power inverter providing up to 2.4 kilowatts and dual wireless phone charging capabilities. Enhanced Lane Keep Assist uses blind spot sensors for better lane centering, while a digital rearview mirror offers an unobstructed view from a rear-facing camera.
Design Enhancements
The exterior design of the Ram Heavy Duty pickups has been updated with new grilles tailored to each trim level and premium LED headlamps as standard features. The RamBox cargo management system continues to offer lockable bed storage with additional features like a pickup bed divider and cargo rail system.
New wheel designs cater to diverse buyer preferences across different models. Standard incandescent taillamps are available alongside premium LED versions equipped with Blind-spot Monitoring on select variants.
Sustainability Initiatives
The introduction of these trucks aligns with Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions by half by 2030 and achieving net carbon zero by 2038. This plan underscores Stellantis' commitment to delivering innovative mobility solutions that are clean, safe, and affordable.
The new heavy-duty trucks are expected in dealerships during Q1 of 2025, offering various trims such as Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited models.
Pricing Details
The starting price for the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty is $47,560 including destination charges, while the Ram 3500 begins at $48,565 including destination fees. These trucks are manufactured in Saltillo, Mexico.
