2025 Kia Carens Facelift Reveal On May 8: Gets Uprated Design & Features

Next month will witness the unveiling of the new Kia Carens ICE version, with an electric variant set to follow. Scheduled for May 8, 2025, the facelifted Kia Carens will join the market, bringing significant updates while maintaining the original model's presence. This new addition will not substitute the existing Carens but instead complement it with a fresh suffix added to its name, highlighting its updated status. Additionally, Kia is working on an all-electric version of the Carens facelift, which will be introduced at a subsequent time.

The facelift of the Kia Carens is expected to feature several major exterior and interior design changes. Exterior modifications include new, more modern headlights, a slimmer grille, updated bumpers, and the addition of new alloy wheels. The rear is anticipated to showcase a redesigned LED light bar, possibly similar to the one on the Seltos. Although spy shots of the interior are yet to be revealed, minor updates compared to the exterior are expected, such as new upholstery and color choices, and possibly updated trims for the dashboard and doors.

Despite the interior design of the Carens facelift remaining largely unchanged, it will benefit from an enhanced features list. Notable new additions include a 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), providing improved safety and convenience. Higher-end variants might also offer a larger infotainment screen, an updated digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof, catering to a more luxurious driving experience.

The 2025 Kia Carens facelift will retain the engine and gearbox options from the current model. It will offer three 1.5-litre engines: a base 115hp, 144Nm petrol engine; a more powerful 160hp, 253Nm turbo-petrol engine; and a 116hp, 250Nm turbo-diesel engine. The base petrol engine will continue with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the turbo-petrol engine will be available with either a 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The diesel engine will offer both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

As for pricing and competition, the facelifted Carens is anticipated to see an increase in price, likely exceeding Rs 20 lakh for the top-spec trims. This price range will position the Carens in direct competition with popular MPVs such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, and Toyota Rumion. Additionally, it will also compete with 3-row SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector, offering a wide array of options for consumers in the segment.

DriveSpark Thinks

The Kia Carens facelift promises to bring significant updates in styling, safety features, and convenience, while retaining the well-received engine options of its predecessor. With its competitive pricing strategy, the Carens facelift aims to strengthen its position in the market against both MPVs and SUVs, offering an attractive proposition for potential buyers.
