2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Achieves Edmunds' Best Of The Best And Top Rated Car Awards
The Honda Civic hybrid has been awarded the Edmunds Best of the Best and Top Rated Car Awards for 2025. This marks the third time the 11th-generation Civic has received an Edmunds Top Rated honour. These accolades follow its recent recognition as the 2025 North American Car of the Year, highlighting its sporty design, safety features, and enjoyable driving experience.
"The Honda Civic Hybrid wins the Edmunds Top Rated Best of the Best award for its unbeatable blend of virtues," said Edmunds Editor-In-Chief Alistair Weaver. "Powerful but frugal, high-tech but accessible, luxurious but affordable, it's the most complete car on sale today."

The new Civic hybrid is a key part of Honda's electrification strategy. It is expected to account for about 40% of Civic sales. Available as both a sedan and hatchback, it combines Honda's two-motor hybrid system with Civic's fun-to-drive nature. The Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid models offer 200 horsepower and 232 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Honda two-motor hybrid system enhances performance while maintaining efficiency. It provides quick acceleration and excellent fuel economy ratings, including a 50-mpg city rating for certain models. The system also powers other Honda vehicles like the Accord and CR-V, contributing to over half of their sales.
Honda has manufactured nearly 12 million Civics in North America since 1982. The current generation continues this legacy with production in Canada and Indiana. The new hybrid power unit is built in Ohio alongside a redesigned engine featuring improved components for better efficiency and capacity.
The fourth-generation Honda two-motor hybrid system is praised for its power and efficiency by WardsAuto editors. It was named one of "Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems" for the second consecutive year, recognising its contribution to a sportier driving experience without sacrificing space or performance.
Legacy and Popularity
The Honda Civic remains one of America's top-selling passenger cars with nearly 13 million units sold since 1973. It appeals to Gen Z buyers, first-time car buyers, and multicultural customers. As Honda's longest-running nameplate, it serves as an entry point to the brand.
Since its introduction in 2020, the Edmunds Top Rated Awards have recognised outstanding vehicles through rigorous testing by their editorial team. The Civic hybrid's recent awards add to its history of success within these rankings.
Commitment to Clean Vehicles
Honda offers a diverse lineup of clean vehicles through over 1,000 U.S. dealers. Their range includes hybrids like the Accord and CR-V alongside all-electric models such as the Prologue SUV. In late 2025, a hybrid Prelude will join this lineup as part of their commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
In North America alone, more than five million Civics have been produced in the U.S., accounting for over a quarter of regional production since Honda began making cars there over four decades ago.
