2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Launched At Rs 46.90 Lakh - The 3-Cylinder Bimmer Coupe
German luxury carmkaer BMW has officially launched the 205 2 Series Gran Coupe in India, with prices commencing from Rs 46.90 lakh for the entry-level 218 M Sport variant and peaking at Rs 48.90 lakh for the top-tier 218 M Sport Pro model.
This new second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, known internally as the F74, surpasses its F44 predecessor in terms of size and technological advancements. However, it continues to serve as the introductory model to BMW's lineup for the Indian market.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe - Exterior Design
The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe features a bolder and more sharply designed exterior compared to its predecessor. The F74 Gran Coupe is 20mm longer, 15mm wider, and 15mm taller compared to the model it replaces.
The 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe features an aggressive front end adorned with sleek LED headlights integrated with diagonally-arranged Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). Below these lights, vertical air intakes frame a sizable air dam, while the iconic BMW kidney grille has evolved into a more unified entity, characterized by vertical and diagonal slats, a center section that's blocked-off, and an illuminated border.
Enhanced Interior and Cutting-edge Features
Inside, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe showcases a significant overhaul with its curved dual-screen setup, consisting of a 10.7-inch touchscreen for infotainment purposes and a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver.
The absence of physical buttons on the center console, with most controls integrated into the touchscreen, highlights the modern design approach. Additionally, a unique feature is the roof-mounted camera that can capture photos and videos of the cabin, offering a novel way to record moments during drives. This content can then be easily transferred to a smartphone for sharing or safekeeping.
One of the notable technological advancements in the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is the Digital Key. This feature allows the car’s locking and unlocking, cabin pre-cooling, and boot access functionalities to be remotely controlled through a smartphone. The digital key can also be shared with up to five users, enhancing convenience and flexibility.
Powertrain and Performance
Powering the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe is a downscaled 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 156hp and 230Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that directs power to the front wheels. In comparison, the previous generation was equipped with a larger 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, offering 176hp and 280Nm. Additionally, the former model also provided a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel variant, producing 190hp and 400Nm. Despite the decrease in power, BMW asserts that the new model can achieve 0-100kph in 8.6 seconds, which is 1.5 seconds slower than its predecessor.
Price and Market Competition
The 2 Series Gran Coupe positions itself as a competitive contender in its segment, with a starting price that is Rs 2.5 lakh higher than its predecessor. It primarily goes head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan, which has a price range of Rs 46.05-48.55 lakh. Comparatively, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe is priced between Rs 85,000 and Rs 2.85 lakh higher than the A-Class, when considering petrol variants alone.
