2025 Audi Q7 Earns IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ Award For Enhanced Rear Passenger Safety
The 2025 Audi Q7 has achieved the prestigious 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This recognition highlights its commitment to safety, especially with new criteria focusing on rear-passenger protection during moderate-overlap front collision tests. The Q7's success in these stringent evaluations adds to its appeal, showcasing its extensive safety features.
IIHS has made it more challenging to earn the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award by revising the criteria for the moderate-overlap front test. This test simulates a head-on collision at 40 mph with 40% of the vehicle's front width overlapping. A new dummy representing smaller occupants in the second row is included, focusing on injuries common among rear-seat passengers.
To qualify for the 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, vehicles must achieve "good" ratings in both small overlap front and updated side tests. Additionally, they need an "acceptable" or "good" rating in pedestrian crash prevention evaluations conducted during day and night. All trims must have headlights rated as acceptable or good.
The Audi Q7 offers numerous standard and optional driver assistance features. These include Audi pre sense® basic, which prepares the vehicle for impact by closing windows and sunroof while tightening seat belts. Audi pre sense® front uses a camera to alert drivers of potential hazards and can apply brakes if needed.
Standard lane-departure warning helps maintain lane position through steering intervention and wheel vibration at speeds above 37 mph. Audi side assist provides blind spot monitoring using LED indicators on mirror housings at speeds over 9 mph. Rear cross-traffic assist aids when reversing out of parking spaces by alerting drivers to approaching vehicles.
The available Intersection assist uses sensors to detect cross traffic at intersections, providing brief braking warnings for potential collisions. Adaptive cruise assist with lane guidance helps manage speed, distance, and lane centering using radar, cameras, and sensors for highway driving support.
Audi's Commitment to Innovation
Audi of America is dedicated to sustainable growth through transformation. In 2024, Audi launched new vehicle platforms—Premium Platform Electric and Premium Platform Combustion—offering advanced internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) options. This initiative led to record sales in the U.S., including a significant increase in Audi Sport sales.
The Top view camera system is available for enhanced parking assistance. It combines images from multiple cameras to create a simulated 360-degree view around the vehicle, aiding navigation in tight spaces. These features underscore Audi's focus on safety and innovation.
