New Honda Amaze Vs Old Amaze: Features & Specs Compared

The Honda Amaze, a popular choice in the subcompact sedan market, has recently introduced its third generation. The latest model starts at ₹8.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in three variants: V, VX, and ZX.

Interestingly, Honda Cars India continues to sell the second-generation Amaze, which comes in two variants: S and VX. As such, here is a quick comparison between the VX variants of both generations of Honda Amaze sedans.

Price Comparison

The third-generation Honda Amaze VX variant is priced at ₹9.24 lakh for the manual transmission and ₹10.19 lakh for the CVT option. In contrast, the second-generation Amaze VX variant costs ₹9.04 lakh for the manual transmission and ₹9.86 lakh for the CVT option. This makes the newer model more expensive by ₹20,000 for the MT and ₹33,000 for the CVT.

Features

The 2024 Honda Amaze VX rides on 15-inch alloy wheels but lacks a dual-tone finish. It features LED projector fog lights, automatic headlights, and power-foldable ORVMs. Inside, it offers a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, remote engine start (CVT only), automatic climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers, and Alexa compatibility.

On the other hand, the second-generation Amaze also includes LED projector headlights and fog lights with automatic headlights and power-foldable ORVMs on 15-inch alloy wheels with diamond-cut rims. However, it lacks some modern features like a semi-digital instrument cluster and cruise control for the CVT option.

Engine Specifications

Both generations of the Honda Amaze are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 89 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox across all trim levels in both models.

Despite having the same engine specifications, Honda has improved low-end performance in the newer model. This enhancement has increased its claimed fuel efficiency from 18.3 kmpl to 19.46 kmpl for the CVT option while maintaining 18.6 kmpl for manual transmission.

Hits & Misses

The second-generation Amaze's cabin includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system but misses out on rear AC vents and six airbags found in its successor. It does have a rear defogger, push-button start/stop feature along with a rearview camera.

The third-generation Amaze offers additional safety features such as a Lanewatch camera alongside rear defogger capabilities making it ideal for those seeking feature-rich sedans at balanced prices.
