1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa Achieves New Auction Record At Broad Arrow’s Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este

Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty company, marked its first European auction with great success at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Held on May 24th and 25th, the event showcased over 70 premium cars, boats, and motorcycles. The auctions, conducted in Villa Erba's Rotunda, attracted a lively audience and achieved total sales of €31,172,625. This figure includes three lots sold shortly after the live event.

The highlight was a 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa that fetched €7,543,750, setting a new auction record for this model. This car is one of two commissioned by an early Ferrari customer and has participated in prestigious events like the Mille Miglia. Another notable sale was a 2003 Honda NSX-R which reached €934,375, breaking another auction record.

A dedicated BMW-only sale also took place during the event. A standout was a 1980 BMW M1 upgraded to Procar specifications by BMW Motorsport. This car captured attention and sold for €602,500. The auction featured highly collectible models from private collections.

Among modern classics, a 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione drew significant interest and sold for €2,312,500. A rare 2023 Ford GT also found a buyer at €613,750. These sales demonstrate the strong demand for both vintage and contemporary collector vehicles.

The auction also included unique items like a 1990 Ducati 851 F90 Corsa owned by John Surtees but never ridden. It attracted considerable interest and sold for €81,250. Such diverse offerings highlight Broad Arrow's commitment to catering to various collector interests.

Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow’s EMEA Region, expressed pride in the successful launch of their European sales calendar. "Our Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este auction has been a resounding success," he stated. "We are extremely proud to have achieved such strong results."

The top ten sales list from the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este includes notable names like Talbot Lago T150 C Lago Speciale Teardrop Coupe and Siata 208S Motto Spider among others. These results underscore Broad Arrow's ability to attract high-caliber collectors worldwide.
