ZOOZ Power Boosts Ultrafast EV Charging Capacity On Cross-Israel Highway

ZOOZ Power has successfully deployed its flywheel-based power boosting and management system at a second location on Route 6, the Cross-Israel Highway. This installation follows the initial setup in May 2024. The project is a collaboration with Dor-Alon and AfconEV, aiming to enhance charging infrastructure without upgrading the grid.

The innovative system uses stored kinetic energy from flywheels and energy management software to supplement grid power. This approach maximises the utilisation of charging infrastructure. The two installations have more than doubled the potential ultrafast charging capacity at each site without requiring grid upgrades.

EV Charging Boost on Route 6

At one site, four 150kW ultra-fast chargers are now available with only a 300kW grid connection. Previously, this site had just one 150kW and two 100kW chargers. The other site now offers three 150kW chargers with a 200kW grid connection, compared to its previous setup of one 150kW and one 50kW charger.

These installations highlight ZOOZ Power's capability to unlock ultra-fast EV charging potential. This can significantly increase revenue for charge point operators (CPOs) without the need for extensive grid investments. Avi Cohen, Executive Chairman of ZOOZ Power, stated: "Our latest collaboration with Dor-Alon and AfconEV is ushering in a new era of ultra-fast charging."

The partnership between ZOOZ Power, Dor-Alon, and Afcon Electric Transportation aims to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast charging along one of Israel’s busiest routes. The system dynamically manages charging by using stored kinetic energy to supplement limited grid supply. This maximises infrastructure utilisation without costly upgrades.

ZOOZ Power's flywheel technology allows high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective ultra-fast charging infrastructure. The sustainable solutions are designed with longevity and environmental considerations in mind. They help customers accelerate the deployment of fast-charging infrastructure, improving utilisation rates and efficiency.

Company Overview

ZOOZ Power is a leading provider of flywheel-based power boosting solutions for electric vehicles (EV). The company pioneers unique technology that enables efficient utilisation and power management of a power-limited grid at EV charging sites. ZOOZ is publicly traded on NASDAQ and TASE under the ticker ZOOZ.

The company's solutions facilitate improved flexibility, faster revenues, and profitability growth for its partners. By optimising limited grid infrastructure through intelligent energy management, ZOOZ Power enables significant revenue increases and profitable ultrafast charging rollouts.

The recent installations on Route 6 are the first in the world where four 150kW ultra-fast chargers are boosted by flywheel technology while powered with only a 300kW grid connection. This avoids the need to upgrade the site to a 600kW connection.

Avi Cohen added: "This partnership marks another important milestone in advancing ultra-fast charging services and enhancing driving experiences for EV drivers." These advancements would be unattainable without massive upfront grid investments.

The forward-looking statements in this press release are based on current beliefs, expectations, and assumptions of ZOOZ Power. These statements involve known and unknown risks that may cause actual results to differ materially from those expressed or implied by the forward-looking statements.
