Xiaomi has unveiled its second vehicle, the YU7 SUV, which is based on the SU7 sedan. This marks Xiaomi's entry into the SUV market, with plans to launch in China by July 2025. The company intends to focus on domestic sales for two to three years due to strong local demand before considering international markets.
Xiaomi YU7 Design and Dimensions
The YU7 SUV shares a wheelbase of 3,000mm with the SU7 but is slightly longer at 4,999mm. It measures 1,996mm in width and 1,600mm in height, making it larger than its main competitor, the Tesla Model Y. The design includes features like a blanked-off grille and teardrop-style LED headlights from the SU7. New elements include black wheel arches and a redesigned rear tail light section.

Powertrain Specifications
The YU7 is equipped with a dual-motor setup producing a combined output of 691hp. This powertrain allows the SUV to reach a top speed of 253kph. Xiaomi has partnered with CATL for the battery supply, which also provides batteries for Tesla.
Battery Details
While the exact battery capacity isn't disclosed, it's expected to be similar to the SU7's 101kWh unit. The YU7's battery technology is anticipated to offer slightly less range than the SU7 sedan due to its heavier weight. The sedan achieves up to 830km on a single charge under CLTC conditions. Entry-level variants might use LFP-chemistry batteries if a two-wheel-drive version becomes available.

Market Strategy & Future Plans
Xiaomi showcased the SU7 sedan in India earlier as part of market research but hasn't confirmed any plans for launching vehicles there soon.
