Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra: A Track-Focused EV Ready To Make History
Xiaomi has unveiled the SU7 Ultra, a track-focused version of its SU7 electric sedan. The Chinese tech giant aims to break the Nürburgring lap record for electric vehicles (EVs), currently held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with a time of 7 minutes and 5.55 seconds.
The SU7 Ultra is equipped with two 'V8s’ electric motors at the rear, each generating 578hp, and a 'V6s’ unit at the front. This setup delivers a total power output of 1,548hp, surpassing the Taycan Turbo GT by 440hp. Xiaomi claims this EV can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 1.97 seconds and reach 300kph in 15.07 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350kph.

Xiaomi's Ambitious Nürburgring Record Attempt
According to Xiaomi, the prototype shown will attempt to beat the Nürburgring record for non-production EVs set by Volkswagen I.D. R at 6 minutes and 5.336 seconds last October. A production-spec SU7 is expected to take on this challenge next year.
To manage weight and downforce, the SU7 Ultra features a carbon fibre body kit, bringing its weight to a claimed 1,900kg. The vehicle also boasts upgraded AP Racing brakes and Pirelli P Zero tyres, allowing it to decelerate from 100 to a complete stop in just 25 metres.

Performance and Specifications
The performance figures of the SU7 Ultra are impressive. With its powerful electric motors, it achieves remarkable acceleration times: reaching 100kph in under two seconds and hitting 300kph in just over fifteen seconds. These capabilities position it as a formidable contender in the high-performance EV segment.
A production version of the standard Xiaomi SU7 sedan was recently showcased in India. This move indicates Xiaomi's broader ambitions in the automotive sector beyond just breaking records.

“We are excited about our upcoming attempt at Nürburgring,” said a Xiaomi spokesperson. “Our goal is not only to set new benchmarks but also to demonstrate our technological advancements in electric mobility.”
The SU7 Ultra’s advanced powertrain and lightweight construction highlight Xiaomi's commitment to pushing boundaries in EV technology. As they prepare for their record attempt, all eyes will be on how this ambitious project unfolds.

With these developments, Xiaomi is positioning itself as a serious player in the high-performance EV market, challenging established automotive giants with its innovative approach and cutting-edge technology.
