Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Sets Unofficial New Lap Record And Aims For Production In 2025
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is on a mission to become the fastest electric vehicle in the world. Recently, a prototype took to the Nurburgring track in Germany and shattered the lap record previously held by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, finishing in an impressive 6 minutes and 48.874 seconds. However, since it was a prototype, this record won't be officially recognized. Xiaomi has plans to put the production model to the test in 2025.
Earlier this year, the Xiaomi SU7 made its debut in China, receiving a warm welcome from consumers. This venture into the automotive world marks a significant milestone for the company, with production handled by BAIC Off-road in Beijing. While some customers reported minor issues, the overall reception has been positive, highlighting the vehicle's performance and features.

Xiaomi SU7 Range and Price
The Xiaomi SU7 is currently available only in China, offering three versions: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. It comes with three battery options: 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh, and 101 kWh. The top-end SU7 Max claims a range of up to 800 km due to its performance specifications, while the base model offers up to 700 km.
The performance of the Xiaomi SU7 varies across models. The top-tier SU7 Max delivers impressive power with 670 bhp and 838 Nm of torque. The upcoming SU7 Ultra aims to exceed these figures further but remains in development.
Production Plans for Xiaomi SU7 Ultra
Although still in its prototype phase, Xiaomi anticipates that the SU7 Ultra will soon enter production lines. The company asserts that it will achieve acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in just under two seconds once produced.
Currently priced between 215,900 yuan (around ₹25 lakhs) and 299,900 yuan (around ₹35 lakhs), the Xiaomi SU7 debuted in India earlier this year. However, there are no immediate plans for an Indian launch as Xiaomi focuses on strengthening its presence in China's automobile market before considering select global markets based on demand and production capabilities.
Ford CEO Jim Farley recently shared his admiration for the Xiaomi SU7 after importing one to the US. "I don't intend on giving it up," he stated after driving it for six months.
