Women’s Worldwide Car Of The Year Exhibition In Italy Celebrates Sisterhood And Challenges Gender Stereotypes

The Women’s Worldwide Car Of The Year (WWCOTY) is participating in a travelling exhibition at the Fratelli Cozzi Museum in Italy. This event, titled "Women and Engines? Joys and… and stop (without prejudice)," aims to highlight the power of sisterhood in challenging stereotypes. Organised by the Friends of the Fratelli Cozzi Museum Association, it features Italian WWCOTY jurors and showcases over 60 iconic Italian vehicles.

The exhibition's theme this year is sisterhood, chosen to debunk the myth that women cannot collaborate effectively. Elisabetta Cozzi, President of the museum and founder of the "Woman in Power" movement, stated, "Once again, we have tried to shatter a stereotype: that 'women cannot work as a team'." The event underscores that teamwork transcends gender boundaries.

Celebrating Sisterhood at WWCOTY Exhibition in Italy

WWCOTY was established in 2009 to amplify women's voices in the automotive industry. Sandy Mhrye and Marta Garcia founded it to unite female professionals who were often overlooked despite their significant contributions. Today, WWCOTY has grown to include 81 members from 55 countries, recognising outstanding cars globally.

The exhibition not only celebrates automobiles but also highlights personal connections among women. Participants had a chance to bond before the official opening at Milan Autoclassica, an event for car enthusiasts held annually for 14 years. This gathering allowed them to share experiences and strengthen their professional ties.

Among the cars featured is the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint, which debuted 70 years ago. It was the first Alfa Romeo model named after a woman and became popular during Italy's post-war economic boom. Known as "the fiancée of Italy," it symbolised progress and modernity in its era.

The exhibition will travel across various regions, visiting institutions and schools with an aim to challenge discriminatory cultures. Sponsored by Mawdy Services and Pirelli, with media partners Quattroruote and Ruoteclassiche, it has received support from prestigious organisations like LIUC University and ACI Storico.

Empowering Women in Automotive

Marta Garcia expressed pride in Italian jurors Ilaria Salzano and Monica Secondino's participation. She said, "I am extremely proud that the Italian WWCOTY jurors... are part of this exhibition celebrating the role of women." This initiative demonstrates WWCOTY's influence beyond motoring into broader societal areas.

The project aligns with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women by promoting reflection beyond a single day. It encourages ongoing dialogue through its exhibitions, reinforcing sisterhood as a tool for change across different venues.

Notable Personalities Involved

Several prominent figures contribute to this initiative. For instance, Martina Semenzato serves as Honorable President of a committee addressing gender-based violence. Claudia Segre leads efforts at AssoFintech while Maria Leitner brings her expertise from Rai Tg2 Motori.

Other contributors include Rita Paparella, a nuclear engineer; Irma Conti, a Supreme Court lawyer; Chiara Viale, an author; Tiziana Vallone from Manageritalia; Maria Letizia Giorgetti from UNIMI; Eugenia Capanna from MTS Motorsport Technical School; Francesca Gaspari representing Italian Women's Motorcycling Federation; Giuliana Parabiago involved with fashion journalism; Nataša Grom managing historic vehicles culture initiatives among others.

This exhibition exemplifies how women can work together effectively across diverse fields while celebrating their achievements within automotive history through iconic models like Alfa Romeo Giulia SS or Spider Duetto among many others showcased throughout this remarkable journey without prejudice or limitations imposed by traditional stereotypes about gender roles within industries such as motoring where they continue making strides forward every day thanks largely due efforts made possible via platforms like WWCOTY which remains committed towards empowering female voices worldwide today more than ever before!
