Women On The Move Against Cancer Contributes £20,500 To Charities In 2024 Fundraising Efforts
Women On the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) has generously increased its donations to two of its 2024 charities, Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) and Cure Leukaemia, by £500 each. This brings their total contributions to £8,000 per charity. Additionally, WOMAC has donated £1,500 each to three other cancer charities, raising the total pledged this year to £20,500.
The recent WOMAC party and fundraising weeks have been successful in surpassing the organisation's donation goals. The OPA and Cure Leukaemia were chosen by committee members or patrons due to their significant support during cancer diagnoses and treatments. WOMAC's efforts have resulted in a total donation of £20,500 so far this year.

OPA has been at the forefront of battling oesophageal and gastric cancers for over 30 years. It provides support to patients, families, and carers while also promoting awareness about these cancers and their prevention. Cure Leukaemia was founded in 2003 with the aim of providing blood cancer patients in Birmingham access to new treatments. It has since grown to offer potentially life-saving treatments across the UK.
Three other charities have received one-time donations of £1,500 each from WOMAC. The Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation organises educational programmes alongside fundraising and awareness events. Cancer United focuses on improving the physical and mental well-being of those diagnosed with cancer from diagnosis onwards.
Breast Cancer Haven offers practical advice along with physical and emotional support to those diagnosed with breast cancer and their loved ones. These charities were nominated by friends, patrons or committee members including former Volkswagen CEO Robin Woolcock, Sue Loy, and Sarah Bradley respectively.
Community-Driven Support
Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, expressed her gratitude: "Thanks to the many supporters of WOMAC I’m delighted that we have not only exceeded our pledges to our 2024 charities but also donated to a further three incredibly worthy causes. All of the charities have been nominated by the WOMAC community and it is truly humbling to be able to support organisations that mean so much to our many supporters."
WOMAC is already planning for next year's fundraiser and is eager to announce its 2025 charities soon. Donations are still being accepted through WOMAC’s JustGiving page.
