VW Gewürz Ketchup Brand Arrives In The U.S. To Celebrate Volkswagen's 75th Anniversary
Volkswagen of America, Inc. has announced that its VW Gewürz Ketchup Brand will be available in the United States for a limited period. This condiment, associated with the VW currywurst, can be claimed for free through Volkswagen’s DriverGear merchandise platform while stocks last. This initiative is part of Volkswagen's ongoing 75th-anniversary celebrations in the U.S.
Volkswagen is renowned for its iconic cars but also produces food items like the VW currywurst sauce for its German employees. The currywurst sausage, first made in 1973, is often served with this sauce. Developed by Volkswagen chefs, the recipe remains a closely guarded secret.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, Volkswagen is highlighting stories from its fans and owners on VW.com. Jamie Orr, an enthusiast who frequently visits Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, has been bringing back bottles of the ketchup as souvenirs to share at gatherings. His actions inspired Volkswagen to make the condiment available in the U.S.
The public will also have a chance to taste this special condiment at ChainFEST in Los Angeles on October 5, 2024. This event is known as the world's leading gourmet chain food festival and will feature the ketchup as part of its offerings.
Volkswagen of America operates under Volkswagen Group of America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. Based in Reston, Virginia, it sells various models including Atlas and Jetta through over 600 dealers across the U.S. The company also runs a modern assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
