Jim Rowan, chief executive of Volvo Cars, stated, "What we believe in and what we do at Volvo Cars goes beyond cars, and the same goes for The Ocean Race and sailing – so what we have here is a natural evolution of our partnership." He emphasised their joint goal of advocating for ocean health and rights.
In 2023, Volvo Car Group achieved a record-breaking core operating profit of SEK 25.6 billion. Their revenue reached an all-time high of SEK 399.3 billion, with global sales hitting a record 708,716 cars. These figures highlight the company's strong performance throughout the year.

Founded in 1927, Volvo Cars is renowned globally with sales in over 100 countries. Listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under "VOLCAR B," the company aims to become fully electric by 2030. The Ocean Race has been a premier test of teamwork and human endurance since 1973. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, it continues to captivate top sailors worldwide. The latest edition began in Alicante on January 15th, ending in Genova on July 1st after visiting nine iconic cities globally.
Volvo Cars' headquarters are located in Gothenburg, Sweden, where most product development and administrative functions occur. They have production plants across Gothenburg; Ghent; South Carolina; Chengdu; Daqing; Taizhou; along with R&D centres in Gothenburg and Shanghai.

The American team led by skipper Charlie Enright won the latest race using IMOCA boats known for their flying and foiling capabilities. Looking ahead, The Ocean Race plans events like The Ocean Race Europe in 2025 and The Ocean Race Atlantic from New York to Barcelona in 2026.
