Volvo Cars Achieves 8% Rise In Global Sales For June With Electric Models Leading The Charge

Volvo Cars reported a global sales increase of 8% in June, totalling 71,514 vehicles. This growth was largely driven by strong performances in Europe and Latin America, alongside the popularity of the fully electric EX30 SUV. Electrified models, including fully electric and plug-in hybrids, saw a 41% rise compared to last year, making up 48% of June's total sales.

In Europe, Volvo Cars sold 36,474 units in June, marking a 34% increase from the previous year. Electrified models accounted for 66% of these sales, with a notable 54% rise in this category. The fully electric segment alone grew by 155%, reflecting the region's growing preference for sustainable vehicles.

Volvo's Global Sales Up 8% in June

Sales in China reached 14,049 cars in June, showing a decline of 9% compared to the same month last year. However, electrified model sales increased by 12%, totalling 1,448 units. Fully electric car sales rose by 52%, while plug-in hybrid sales remained relatively stable with a slight increase of 1%.

The US market experienced a significant drop in sales by 28%, with only 9,304 cars sold in June. Despite this overall decline, plug-in hybrid sales surged by 75%. The decrease was partly due to widespread IT issues affecting numerous dealerships across the country during the month.

Globally, from January to June, Volvo Cars sold 388,073 vehicles, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. "As June comes to a close, the sales figures for the month are proof of the successful steps we have taken toward our long-term strategic direction and the continued demand for our cars," said Björn Annwall, chief commercial officer and deputy CEO at Volvo Cars.

The Volvo XC60 was the top-selling model in June with 19,222 units sold. It was followed by the XC40/EX40 with total sales of 16,195 cars and the EX30 at 12,513 units. These models continue to drive Volvo's market presence globally.

In other regions outside Europe and North America, Volvo Cars sold 11,687 units in June. This represents an increase of 8% compared to last year. Electrified models made up nearly half of these sales at 5,463 units.
