Volkswagen Virtus GT Line & GT Plus Sport Trim Launched In India: Design, Features & More
Volkswagen has recently introduced two exciting additions to the Virtus lineup with the GT Line and GT Plus Sport trims, starting at Rs 14.07 lakh and Rs 17.84 lakh, respectively. These new variants come alongside a comprehensive update across the range, which sees higher-spec features becoming standard across more models.
This move mirrors updates given to the Taigun SUV, further expanding the options for Volkswagen enthusiasts. Notably, the Virtus now also benefits from the chrome and sport exterior packages previously seen on the Taigun, enhancing its appeal with a more stylish and sporty look.
GT Line
In detail, the GT Line trim for the Virtus sedan has been developed to bring the darker, more aggressive aesthetics of the 1.5 TSI variants to the 1.0 TSI lineup. This includes black detailing on the alloy wheels, grille, roof, wing mirrors, and bumpers.
Additionally, the door handles receive a dark chrome finish, complemented by a gloss black spoiler and blacked-out Virtus badging. The GT Line also introduces new badges on the fenders and boot lid to signify its unique status.
The interior of the Virtus GT Line doesn't fall short on luxurious touches, boasting all-black upholstery accented with grey stitching. It's well-equipped with modern conveniences including an electric sunroof, a large 10-inch infotainment screen, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and red ambient lighting.
For added comfort and safety, it features aluminium pedals, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TMPS), hill hold control, six airbags, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
GT Plus Sport
Turning our attention to the GT Plus Sport variant, it stands out with its 1.5 TSI engine available in both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT gearbox options. It shares the blacked-out aesthetic with the GT Line but raises the bar with red "GT" badges, red brake calipers, a dual-tone roof, and an aero kit that adds a more aggressive look to the bumpers and side running board.
The interior is equally striking with black leatherette upholstery, red stitching, and red accents on the steering wheel. This variant also boasts premium features like ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, setting it apart from the GT Line.
Highline Plus
Both the Taigun and Virtus models have been enriched with the introduction of a new Highline Plus trim level. Positioned between the existing Highline and Topline trims, this new addition offers a suite of advanced features like an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), push-button start/stop, a single-pane sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and follow-me-home light functionality. Furthermore, the Topline trims now come with an added amplifier and subwoofer for an enhanced auditory experience.
Volkswagen's strategic updates extend to the Taigun GT Line, improving it with additional features such as an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, sunroof, push-button start/stop, aluminium pedals, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlamps. However, similar to the Virtus, the Taigun GT Line remains exclusive to the 1.0-litre TSI engine, available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
Despite the extensive updates, Volkswagen has yet to release a detailed price list for the revised models. However, pricing for the Virtus now ranges from Rs 11.56 lakh to Rs 19.41 lakh, while the Taigun is priced between Rs 11.70 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, all prices being ex-showroom, India. This pricing adjustment reflects the enhanced value and appeal that these models now offer to customers seeking premium features and sporty aesthetics in their vehicles.
