Volkswagen's New Tiguan R-Line Brings More Power And Dynamic Handling To The UK

A new, powerful petrol version of Volkswagen’s best-selling Tiguan will be available in the UK from 15 August. The Tiguan R-Line 2.0 TSI 265 PS, featuring a seven-speed automatic direct-shift gearbox (DSG) and 4MOTION all-wheel drive, is set to become the most potent petrol Tiguan on the UK market.

The latest Tiguan variant includes Volkswagen’s advanced adaptive chassis control system, DCC Pro, as standard. This system enhances driving dynamics with innovative two-valve shock absorbers, similar to those used in motorsport. The combination of DCC Pro and 4MOTION ensures responsive handling and stable road holding.

With a robust 265 PS output, this new model offers impressive acceleration. It can reach a top speed of 150 mph (where permitted) and accelerates from zero to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds. This makes it one of the fastest options in its class.

The Tiguan R-Line 2.0 TSI 265 PS retains all the typical benefits of the Tiguan range. It boasts a spacious 652-litre boot, a premium interior, and Volkswagen’s latest infotainment software and digital cockpit. Additionally, it features an impressively low drag coefficient of 0.28 Cd and useful driver assistance systems like hill start assist and hill descent control.

Volkswagen's Tiguan remains their top-selling model globally and their most popular SUV to date, with over 7.5 million units sold worldwide. In the UK alone, more than 25,000 units were registered in 2023 (excluding the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace).

Availability and Pricing

The new Tiguan R-Line 2.0 TSI 265 PS can be ordered through any Volkswagen UK Retailer starting from 15 August at a price of £47,540 (on-the-road recommended retail price, including VAT). This positions it at the top of the Tiguan range alongside the R-Line 272 PS eHybrid variant.
