Volkswagen, Skoda Detect Major Flaw In Production – Recall Issued For Taigun, Virtus, Kushaq, & Slavia
Both Volkswagen and Skoda cars are known for their solid build quality, and the latest from these brands for the Indian market are all built on the same MQB-A0 IN platform. Also, all of the vehicles built on this platform have bagged a 5-Star safety rating, making them one of the safest cars on sale in India.
However, Volkswagen and Skoda have now issued recalls on Virtus, Taigun, Kushaq, and Slavia vehicles following a major issue in production. Though the production process irregularity was identified from the component supplier's end, a more stringent inspection from the brand's end could have avoided this recall.

Looking into the details of the recall, the issue is related to a welding process, where the weld seam on the 'track control arm' could have been missed. This issue could lead to a sudden loss of vehicle control in case of the component failure, making it extremely dangerous at higher speeds.
On the bright side, just 52 units of vehicles were affected by this issue. Moreover, these vehicles were manufactured between November 29, 2023 and January 20, 2024. That being said, owners of the affected cars will be contacted by the manufacturer and the fix will be carried out free of cost.
Many automakers have issued recalls of their vehicles in both Indian and global markets. This shows the commitment of automakers regarding their products and the safety of their customers.
At present, the Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Skoda Kushaq, and Slavia models are doing well in the Indian automobile market. Also, they make a good choice for anyone prioritising good performance and build quality over other parameters.
That being said, we do not expect the recall of Volkswagen, and Skoda models to affect its sales in India, but bolster the trust of the brand, and further boost its sales in the country.
