Volkswagen Joins Forces With She’s Electric To Enhance EV Understanding
Volkswagen is collaborating with She’s Electric to highlight the advantages of electric vehicles at two events this autumn. These events will take place on Saturday, 12 October at Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and Sunday, 13 October at Danesfield House in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The initiative aims to empower women and promote sustainable lifestyle choices.
She’s Electric is a community-driven initiative created by women to empower other women. It focuses on harnessing consumer power for positive change. The events are designed to be entertaining and informative, allowing attendees to test drive electric cars and learn about the benefits of switching from petrol and diesel vehicles.
The relaxed atmosphere of these events includes engaging hosts, ethical lifestyle brands, and inspiring speakers. Attendees can find answers to their questions about electric vehicles in an informal setting. Experts on clean energy and lifestyle brands will be present to provide insights into sustainable living.
Volkswagen aims to help all motorists reduce their carbon footprints by understanding the benefits of owning an electric vehicle (EV). Research by Auto Trader indicates that women are less comfortable than men when visiting car dealerships. Volkswagen hopes to bridge this gender gap through its partnership with She’s Electric.
Sarah Cox-Thornley, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen UK, stated, "Volkswagen is an established and trusted vehicle manufacturer, so we are delighted to be able to lend our expertise and cars to these fabulous She’s Electric events this autumn." She added that their full range of electric cars would be available for attendees to see and drive.
Driving Experiences and Expert Insights
The events will feature Volkswagen's entire range of electric vehicles, including the ID.3 hatchback, ID.4 and ID.5 SUVs, the flagship ID.7 model, and the retro-styled ID. Buzz. This variety allows participants to experience different models firsthand.
"We like to use the phrase ‘same spirit, different energy’ when comparing the electric driving experience with petrol and diesel," said Cox-Thornley. "We hope this message comes across at these events for anyone feeling puzzled or apprehensive about going electric."
Volkswagen's Market Presence
In 2023, Volkswagen registered 162,087 new passenger vehicles in the UK, achieving a market share of 8.52%. This marked an increase of 0.35% compared with the previous year, making Volkswagen the UK's best-selling new-car brand for three consecutive years.
The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand operates globally with production facilities in 29 locations across 12 countries. The company employs approximately 170,000 people worldwide and delivered around 4.87 million vehicles in 2023.
Focus on Electric Vehicles
Volkswagen handed over about 394,000 all-electric vehicles globally in 2023 as part of its ACCELERATE strategy. This strategy aims to position Volkswagen as a leading brand for sustainable mobility by consistently advancing its electric vehicle offerings.
The events hosted by She’s Electric are open predominantly to women but welcome anyone interested in learning more about electric cars and sustainable lifestyles. Tickets can be booked through their website.
The collaboration between Volkswagen and She’s Electric provides a unique opportunity for attendees to explore electric vehicles in a supportive environment while gaining valuable insights into sustainable living practices.
