Volkswagen Rolls Out Four Advanced High-Performance Golf Models In The UK

The latest high-performance versions of the Volkswagen Golf are now available for order in the UK. Starting from 8 August, customers can choose from four new trims: the Golf GTI Clubsport, R, R Estate, and R Black Edition. These models represent some of Volkswagen's most powerful production cars to date.

The 300 PS Golf GTI Clubsport made its UK debut shortly after being showcased at Nürburgring in Germany. This model features unique styling enhancements, including a distinctive Clubsport front bumper with a honeycomb air-intake grille. The front is also equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and an illuminated logo.

At the rear, animated LED tail lights enhance the design, while 18-inch Richmond alloy wheels complete the side profile. Standard features include keyless access and start, heated front seats, three-zone air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, and a 12.9-inch touch display with the latest infotainment software.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol TSI engine paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox, this model accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph where permitted. The Golf GTI Clubsport is priced at £41,655 (including VAT).

The new Golf R and R Estate come with enhanced driving dynamics thanks to the DCC adaptive chassis control system. Both models feature a 333 PS engine—13 PS more than their predecessors—and are equipped with a seven-speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive with R-Performance Torque Vectoring.

The top speed of these models is 155 mph but can be increased to 167 mph with the optional R-Performance package. The exterior includes redesigned front elements like IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge.

Inside, both models offer front sports seats with integrated head restraints and a clear 12.9-inch touch display featuring updated graphics and menu structures. The Golf R starts at £43,320 while the R Estate is priced at £44,685 (including VAT).

Golf R Black Edition

The Golf R Black Edition stands out with its dark exterior accents such as black 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels and darkened IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. It shares the same 333 PS engine as other R models but includes the R performance package as standard.

This package allows for a top speed of 168 mph and adds racetrack-specific driving modes like drift and special. A GPS lap timer and G-meter are also included for motorsport enthusiasts. The Golf R Black Edition is available for £44,570 (including VAT).
