Earlier this year, VWG received Inclusive Employers’ Gold Standard accreditation for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. This recognition highlights the company's ongoing efforts to create an inclusive workplace environment.

The Milton Keynes Pride Festival provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals and supports local projects such as educational development programmes, youth groups, and Q:Alliance, a local LGBTQ+ charity. It allows VWG employees to connect with the community and demonstrate the company’s friendly and inclusive culture.

Penny Weatherup, People Director at Volkswagen Group UK, expressed her excitement about attending MK Pride again this month. She said: "I’m excited to be heading to MK Pride again this month and proud that we’re once again able to support this event. Not only is it a great, fun day out, it’s also an opportunity to connect with and learn more about our local community."

Employee Network Groups

The sponsorship of the festival is driven by VWG’s We Drive Proud Employee Network Group (ENG), which represents LGBTQ+ employees and their allies. This group is one of six ENGs within VWG, including Driven Women, Cultural Diversity, We Enable, We Are Parents and Carers, and Inspire. These groups play a crucial role in the company's diversity, equity, and inclusion activities.

Volkswagen Group UK employs over 900 people directly in the UK, with an additional 25,000 working indirectly through associated businesses such as retail networks, logistics, customer services, and financial services. In 2023 alone, the Group registered 427,431 passenger cars in the UK.
