Volkswagen Group Of America Appoints Antony Klapper As New General Counsel

Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA) has appointed Tony Klapper as General Counsel. Reporting directly to Pablo Di Si, President and CEO of VWGoA, Klapper will lead the company's legal team across its brands. He will oversee all legal functions including corporate, intellectual property, product liability, regulatory affairs, privacy, cybersecurity, sales, and marketing.

Klapper joined Volkswagen Group of America seven years ago and most recently served as Deputy General Counsel for Product Liability and Regulatory Affairs. He brings extensive automotive experience defending company interests, especially in new technology and government regulations.

Antony Klapper Named VWGoA General Counsel

Before joining Volkswagen, Klapper was the Managing Director of a trial consulting company. He also practiced law as a litigator and trial attorney for over 20 years at two global law firms. At those firms, he represented major domestic and international auto manufacturers in litigation and regulatory matters.

Klapper holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and an MPA from Princeton University. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Law Review.

Volkswagen Group of America is a wholly owned subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. It houses the U.S. operations of distinguished brands like Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Volkswagen. VWGoA is also the sole importer and distributor of Bugatti and Rimac vehicles in the U.S.

VWGoA’s headquarters are in Reston, Virginia. The company employs approximately 10,000 people in the United States and sells its vehicles through a network of about 1,000 independent dealers.
