Volkswagen Unveils Comprehensive Charging Plan For 2025 ID. Buzz With Electrify America Partnership
Volkswagen of America has introduced a new charging plan for the 2025 ID. Buzz, in partnership with Electrify America. This initiative offers ID. Buzz owners a three-year charging package, enhancing their electric vehicle experience. The plan includes three years of Electrify America's Pass+ membership and 500 kWh of free charging, making it easier for drivers to embrace electric mobility across the U.S.'s largest open DC fast-charging network.
The Pass+ membership provides members with preferential rates, offering about 25% savings compared to standard pay-as-you-go options. Additionally, the ID. Buzz features Plug&Charge technology, simplifying the charging process at Electrify America stations. By activating this feature in the Electrify America app, drivers can start charging without needing their wallet or smartphone.
Robert Barrosa, President and CEO of Electrify America, expressed excitement about offering this comprehensive solution for the ID. Buzz. "With our extensive network of more than 970 Hyper-Fast charging stations strategically located along major highways and in metropolitan areas, ID. Buzz owners can confidently embark on road trips and daily commutes alike," he stated.
Volkswagen's Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, Andrew Savvas, highlighted the collaboration with Electrify America as a step towards enhancing the ID. Buzz experience for all owners. "With three years of Pass+ membership access to the largest open DC fast-charging network in the U.S., families can explore and experience all that electric mobility has to offer," he said.
Volkswagen of America operates under Volkswagen Group of America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG. Based in Reston, Virginia, it sells various models through over 600 independent U.S. dealers and runs an assembly facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Meanwhile, Electrify America boasts over 970 stations and 4,400 chargers across North America.
The Plug&Charge feature is enabled by advanced vehicle-to-grid communication technology using encrypted security measures. It simplifies charging for vehicles with the Combined Charging System (CCS) connector type.
Plan Specifics and Requirements
The 2025 ID.Buzz Charging Plan is available with new model year purchases from authorized U.S.-based Volkswagen dealers. The plan includes 36 months of Pass+ membership and complimentary DC Fast and L2 charging starting from purchase date. However, idle fees and associated taxes at charging stations are not covered.
To use Plug&Charge at Electrify America's stations, users must have an account with them and activate the feature via their mobile app. The functionality is exclusive to original purchasers during the included three-year plan period.
This initiative by Volkswagen and Electrify America aims to promote zero-direct emission driving while providing a convenient solution for electric vehicle owners across the United States.
