Volkswagen's 2024 Atlas, Cross Sport, And ID.4 Secure Top Spots In Cars.com Car Seat Checks
Volkswagen of America, Inc. has announced that the 2024 Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, and ID.4 have been named among Cars.com’s 2024 Best Cars for Car Seats. Each of these vehicles received A's in their Car Seat Checks. This is the third consecutive year Volkswagen SUVs have achieved this recognition, with Tiguan being honoured last year.
The Cars.com Best Cars for Car Seats Report evaluates vehicles over a 12-month period from July to July. The assessments are conducted by certified child passenger safety technicians who install three types of car seats—infant, convertible, and high-back booster—into each new vehicle. They evaluate the Latch system and how well the vehicle accommodates different car seats.
Thomas Zorn, Vice President of Vehicle Safety at Volkswagen Group of America, expressed pride in the recognition: "Volkswagen is proud to have our Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and ID. 4 models acknowledged as three of the best in this year’s Best Cars for Car Seats list." He added that this accolade reflects the company's dedication to safety and functionality in their vehicle designs.
Jennifer Geiger, Cars.com news editor and certified child passenger safety technician, highlighted the vehicles' strengths: "During Cars.com’s testing, we found the Volkswagen Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport and ID.4 all excelled when it came to our car seat testing." She noted that growing families would appreciate the spacious interiors and easily accessible Latch anchors.
For a vehicle to achieve an ‘A’ rating from Cars.com, it must provide ample room for both the child and car seat without compromising legroom for the driver or front passenger. Additionally, the vehicle’s Latch system must be easily accessible and user-friendly. In 2024, 52 vehicles were evaluated by Cars.com experts.
The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV, assembled locally in Chattanooga, Tennessee starting in 2023. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle architecture, it combines performance with value. The entry-level ID.4 Standard with a 62 kWh battery starts at $39,735 MSRP for 2024 and qualifies for a full Federal EV tax credit of $7,500.

It includes numerous comfort and technology features at an attractive price point. The MSRP for the 2024 Atlas Cross Sport 2.0-liter starts at $36,715 plus a destination fee of $1,350.
