VinFast To Begin Local EV Assembly In Tamil Nadu, Eyes 2025 Launch
Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is gearing up to enter the Indian market with a strategic shift towards local assembly. The company plans to start assembling its EVs at a new plant in Tamil Nadu by March 2025, moving away from its initial plan of importing vehicles.
VinFast Local Assembly and Market Entry
The Tamil Nadu plant is expected to commence CKD (completely knocked down) assembly operations by early 2025, aiming for a faster market entry. The first locally assembled EV from VinFast is projected to be launched during the festive season next year.

VinFast has already taken significant steps towards this goal, including filing a patent for the VF3 and initiating road trials for the VF e34. The move to local assembly using CKD kits is anticipated to reduce import duties, allowing the company to allocate the saved funds towards brand building and marketing efforts.
VinFast Boosting Confidence Among Stakeholders
Local assembly is expected to bolster confidence among suppliers, dealers and buyers, providing a solid foundation for VinFast's operations in India. The company is optimistic that this strategy, coupled with competitive pricing, will enable it to reach a peak production capacity of 50,000 units in its first year.
