Upcoming SUVs In India: Electric To ICE, Buyers Spoilt For Choice
The remainder of 2024 will witness the launch of several SUVs in India. Among these, the Tata Nexon iCNG stands out as the country's first CNG car with a turbocharged engine. It will feature dual-cylinder technology, similar to other Tata models, and may also be available with an automatic gearbox.
Mahindra Thar 5-Door
The Mahindra Thar 5-door, expected to be named the Thar Armada, will be an enhanced version of the Thar 3-door. It will boast features like 19-inch alloy wheels, a larger infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and an electric sunroof.
This model will retain the same engine options as the 3-door, but will also introduce a competitively priced entry-level model with a 1.5-liter diesel engine and rear-wheel drive.

Tata Curvv EV
The Tata Curvv EV, set to be launched in September, will be based on the same platform as the Nexon. It will have a longer wheelbase and is expected to offer a range of 450-500km.
The car will sport a unique SUV-coupe design, although the interior will be similar to the Nexon. This model will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX in the midsize electric SUV segment.
Hyundai Alcazar Facelift
The Hyundai Alcazar facelift is slated for a September or October release. It will feature styling updates reminiscent of the new Creta while retaining its unique elements. The updated model will have a new dashboard with two connected digital displays, ADAS, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. It will retain the same engine options as the current model.

Citroen Basalt and eC3 Aircross
The Citroen Basalt, an SUV-coupe, will be Citroen's fourth model in India. It will be equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and offer more features than other Citroen models. Additionally, the Citroen eC3 Aircross will be an electric variant of the C3 Aircross SUV, sharing most of its exterior and interior with the petrol version, but featuring a larger battery.
Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta EV is set to debut late in the year and will go on sale in early 2025. This model will differ slightly from its ICE counterpart and is expected to use a 45kWh battery pack, offering a range of around 250km.

Mahindra XUV.e8
Mahindra's first new generation electric SUV, the XUV.e8, will be based on the XUV700. It will feature an all-wheel-drive system and battery packs of up to 80kWh, with power outputs ranging from 230bhp to over 350bhp.
