Upcoming Skoda Sub-4m SUV To Be Named Today: All Details Here
The official naming ceremony of the upcoming Skoda sub-4m SUV will take place today. This upcoming SUV is Skoda's third vehicle under the India 2.0 programme.
Earlier this year, Skoda announced its plans to enter the lucrative sub-4m SUV segment, with the launch expected early next year, possibly at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The names shortlisted for this new model include Kwiq, Kylaq, Kosmiq, Kliq, and Kayaq.

This upcoming Skoda compact SUV has been frequently spotted during testing on Indian roads in recent months. It is anticipated to draw significant design inspiration from the Kushaq SUV. With a length of less than 4-metres, it aims to leverage the benefits of this segment, particularly noticeable beyond the C-pillar when compared side-by-side with other models.
Design and Features
Skoda's upcoming compact SUV is nearing production readiness. Expected design elements include a split headlamp setup, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, and a wide air dam. Additional features may comprise new front and rear bumpers, black roof rails, and a storm lamp mounted atop the rear windshield.

Powertrain
Performance-wise, the vehicle will be powered by Skoda's 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine. This engine is expected to produce 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic torque converter.
Market Competition
The new Skoda compact SUV will compete with established models in the Indian market such as the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. This competition highlights the importance of strategic pricing and feature offerings for Skoda's new entrant.

Skoda currently offers several popular models in India including the Slavia, Kushaq, Kodiaq, and Superb. The introduction of this new sub-4 meter compact SUV aims to expand their market presence further.
Launch Timeline
This eagerly awaited SUV is expected to hit the market in the first half of 2025, likely before June. The testing phase is actively underway with frequent sightings of the vehicle on Indian roads over recent months.
Pricing Expectations
Industry experts believe that Skoda might price this new compact SUV aggressively around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). If launched at this price point, it could achieve impressive sales figures due to its competitive pricing strategy combined with advanced features.
