5 Must-Watch Compact SUVs Coming to India by 2025: What to Expect

Car manufacturers in India are capitalizing on the growing popularity of SUVs by introducing more models in the competitive sub-4-meter compact SUV segment. This is in response to the rising demand from Indian consumers for versatile vehicles that offer the ruggedness of an SUV and the convenience of a smaller car.

As a result, the Indian market is set to witness the launch of several new SUVs, such as the XUV300 Facelift, Toyota Taisor, a new Skoda SUV, the Kia Clavis, and more.

Kia Clavis

The Kia Clavis is set to make its debut between the existing Sonet and Seltos models, enriching Kia's lineup with a fresh compact SUV offering. With a global unveiling expected by the end of 2024 and a launch anticipated in 2025, the Clavis has already been spotted during test runs in Korea. Known internally as AY, the Clavis will be available in both electric and traditional powertrains, showcasing an upright posture in line with Kia's current design philosophy.

Skoda's Compact SUV Plans

Under Skoda's India 2.5 strategy, a new compact SUV is being developed with a strong focus on local manufacturing. This move aims at achieving a 90% localization rate, allowing the SUV to cater not only to the Indian market but also to international ones.

Slated for a 2025 launch, this vehicle will ride on the MQB A0 IN platform and will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI engine, known for its 115 bhp output and 178 Nm of torque.

Maruti Suzuki Micro SUV Entry

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce a new micro SUV that will take on competitors like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Positioned below the Brezza, this upcoming vehicle, codenamed Y43, promises to offer distinctive SUV styling and an upright posture. Although details are currently limited, the anticipation for more information is building.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

The Mahindra XUV300 is on the verge of receiving a significant facelift, incorporating a refreshed design and an array of new features. Inspired by Mahindra's upcoming BE series, the facelift will introduce a modern interior highlighted by a new 10.25-inch infotainment system and driver's display. Engine options will remain diverse, with the addition of a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission for the 1.2-litre tGDi petrol engine.

Toyota Taisor

The Toyota Taisor, based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, is expected to make its debut in early 2024. Sharing its underpinnings and powertrain with the Fronx, the Taisor will offer both petrol and CNG options, including a 1.2-litre K12C engine and a 1.0-litre BoosterJet turbo petrol motor. Despite its shared foundation, the Taisor will feature unique design elements and interior modifications to distinguish it from its cousin.
