Upcoming Force Gurkha 4X2 Homologated: Likely To Be Priced Around Rs 12 Lakh
Force Motors has launched the 2024 Gurkha, introducing several new features. A notable addition is the practical 5-door variant, which complements the existing 3-door model. The company now plans to release a 4X2 base variant aimed at competitive pricing. Furthermore, this new 4X2 variant has been homologated, with documents leaked online.
According to the leaked documents, this upcoming model is called the Gurkha 4X2 BS VI FM 2.6 CR 2400 3+D. This model will serve as the entry-level option in the Gurkha line-up. This variant will rival Mahindra's Thar RWD, known for its popularity.

Specifications and Variants
The 4X2 version is available only in the 3-door Gurkha, while the 5-door version retains its 4X4 capabilities as standard. Other variants include the Gurkha 4X4 BS VI FM 2.6 CR 2400 (3+D) and Gurkha 4X4 BS VI FM 2.6 CR 2825 96+D. The new base variant retains most features but lacks off-road functionalities.
Pricing Strategy
Mahindra set a benchmark with the Thar AX (O) priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (Ex-showroom), featuring a smaller 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine. Currently, Thar's base price stands at Rs 11.35 lakh (Ex-showroom), with the loaded Thar LX 1.5 Diesel RWD at Rs. 12.85 lakh (Ex-showroom).

To stay competitive, the 3-door Gurkha 4X2 might be priced around the Rs 12 lakh mark. Such pricing will help Force Motors attract the attention of potential Mahindra Thar 4X2 buyers in India, and hence improve the chances of a sale.
Engine and Performance
Force Motors equips all its vehicles with the FM 2.6 CR engine. In the Gurkha, this engine delivers 138bhp and 320Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. With its lighter build, the 4X2 Gurkha is expected to be the fastest variant.

DriveSpark Thinks
With the launch of the new Force Gurkha 4X2 variant, Force Motors is looking forward to boosting its sales by attracting the attention of potential buyers with a lower price tag. Also, thanks to its roomy interior, the Gurkha 4X2 will be a more practical choice for most buyers in this category compared to the Mahindra Thar.
