BMW Group India To Introduce Three New Cars Including Electric Models
The BMW Group is set to launch three new cars in India on July 24, 2024. These include the highly anticipated 5 Series in its long wheelbase version, as well as new generations of the Cooper S and Countryman Electric from Mini. Bookings for all three cars are already open online or at authorized dealerships.
The first car to be launched is the BMW 5 Series LWB, which will be the first 5 Series offered in long-wheelbase form in India. It will directly compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The new-generation 5 Series will not only replace the old 5 Series but also the 6 Series GT.
With dimensions of 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,105mm, it will be the largest car in its segment. It is expected to be more expensive than the current 6 Series GT.
Next up is the Mini Cooper S hatchback, which will be launched with a petrol powertrain initially, followed by an all-electric SE version later this year. The new Cooper S retains Mini's iconic design elements with circular headlights and a larger octagonal front grille.
Inside, it features a unique circular 9.4-inch OLED infotainment screen developed with Samsung. The new Cooper S will be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 300Nm of torque.
The third car to be launched is the Mini Countryman Electric, which shares its underpinnings with the BMW iX1. Compared to the outgoing petrol Countryman, the electric version has grown in size, resulting in more legroom at the back.
It offers two powertrain options – a single-motor, front-wheel-drive version with 204hp and 250Nm, and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version with 313hp and 494Nm. Both versions come with a 66.45kWh battery and have claimed ranges of 462km and 433km, respectively.
In addition to the cars, BMW will also launch the CE 04 electric scooter. It is powered by an 8.9kWh battery and has a claimed range of 130km. The scooter features three ride modes, traction control, ABS, and a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity for navigation.
Overall, BMW is set to make a big splash in the Indian market with the launch of these new cars and electric scooter. Customers can expect a range of options to choose from, whether they are looking for luxury sedans or electric mobility solutions.
