Unplugged Performance Launches First Electric Police Vehicle: Tesla Model S Plaid At SEMA 2024
Unplugged Performance is set to reveal a unique Tesla Model S Plaid at SEMA 2024, tailored for law enforcement use. This marks the first time such a vehicle has been designed specifically for police work in the United States. The "UP.FIT Tesla Model S Plaid Pursuit" is crafted to meet the demanding needs of first responders.
The UP.FIT division modifies the standard Tesla Model S Plaid, which boasts over 1,000 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 1.99 seconds, into a patrol car ready for law enforcement duties. This transformation includes advanced technologies and modifications to enhance its capabilities in high-speed pursuits and traffic patrols.
Key features of the UP.FIT Plaid Pursuit include a custom electrical wiring harness unique to UP.FIT Tesla vehicles. This integrates forward- and rear-facing warning lights into the front and rear glass, improving aerodynamics compared to traditional rooftop light bars. Side skirt lighting, a push-bumper with additional warning lights, and integrated emergency sirens are also included.
Performance upgrades by Unplugged Performance ensure that the Plaid Pursuit is duty-ready. Enhanced braking components and UP Forged lightweight wheels provide increased durability and superior handling during pursuits. These improvements make it not only effective but also a zero-emission alternative to conventional patrol cars.
The UP.FIT Plaid Pursuit offers rapid acceleration and a range of 345 miles, providing law enforcement agencies with an efficient, powerful, and sustainable option for patrols. It represents a significant step towards adopting electric vehicles for public service roles.
This debut vehicle will be delivered to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Motorsports community outreach program. It signifies an important move towards integrating electric vehicles into public service sectors.
