Maruti Suzuki Jimny With Turbocharger Kit Becomes A Hit Among Indian Car Enthusiasts
Car modification is a popular trend in India, with many enthusiasts aiming to enhance their vehicles' performance. A recent example is a Maruti Suzuki Jimny equipped with a turbocharger kit to boost its engine power. This modified Jimny has gained attention through an online video showcasing its enhanced capabilities.
Off-road vehicles have always been in high demand in India, with models like the Maruti Suzuki Gypsy and Mahindra Thar leading the market. Currently, the Mahindra Thar dominates as the best-selling off-road SUV.

To compete, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Jimny to India, initially available in Japan. Despite decent initial sales, Jimny's recent sales have dropped to less than 10 per cent of Mahindra Thar's sales.
The standard Maruti Suzuki Jimny comes with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, delivering 105 PS of power and 135 Nm of torque. However, for some enthusiasts, this power output is insufficient. The owner of this particular Jimny opted to install a turbocharger, making it India's first turbocharged Jimny.
This modification was carried out by Delhi-based PropSpeed in collaboration with Garage 82. According to a YouTube video, the modified Jimny now produces 155 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque, which is approximately 50 per cent more than the stock engine's output. The upgrade includes a full AVO kit and several new components under the bonnet.
The most noticeable addition is the turbo kit itself, connected to an AVO filter via a stainless steel pipe. Extensive plumbing work has been done to accommodate these modifications. An intercooler has also been installed to maintain optimal engine temperatures.

Additionally, a strut brace from Danauto has been added to the engine bay for improved stability. The downpipe has been modified for better exhaust flow, and the stock tyres have been replaced with Apollo Apterra tyres for enhanced traction and durability.
Legal Considerations for Car Modifications
It's important to note that modifying vehicles in India comes with legal risks. Altering the engine system can lead to vehicle seizure by authorities if not done through authorised channels. Therefore, it's advisable to consult professional car customisation companies for such modifications.

DriveSpark Thinks
