Travis Pastrana Wins Third Consecutive Event At 2024 Lake Superior Performance Rally Finale
Travis Pastrana, a renowned figure in extreme sports and driver for Subaru Motorsports USA, clinched victory at the 2024 Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR). This event marked the conclusion of the 2024 American Rally Association (ARA) season. Pastrana, alongside co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino, ended their season on a high note by winning the last three events. They finished just one point behind the reigning ARA champions, Brandon Semenuk and Keaton Williams.
"Three in a row to end the season is awesome," Pastrana expressed following his win. "If you would’ve said at the beginning of the season that we were gonna win the last three I’d say ‘You’re crazy,’ but I found that passion again, got healthy, worked with Rhi and the team and here we are."
During the LSPR weekend, Semenuk took a break from rallying to participate in and win the Red Bull Rampage mountain biking event. In his absence, 18-year-old racing prodigy Lia Block stepped into his WRX ARA24 seat. Her performance attracted large crowds as she navigated through Michigan’s scenic upper peninsula.
Currently competing in her rookie F1 Academy season, Block returned to rallying after a year-long hiatus. With co-driver Keaton Williams, she maintained an impressive pace, securing third place after day one. However, on stage 10 Saturday, they ran wide on a left turn and had to retire from the race.
Block shared her thoughts on her rally experience: "I got to do my first rally in over a year, drive in the top class, drive a Subaru WRX rally car," she said. "It didn’t end how we wanted it to, but it’s rally. I learned so much and I’m proud of my pace and what I achieved in my limited time in the car."
The WRX ARA24 vehicles are currently inactive but will soon undergo testing as preparations for the 2025 ARA season begin. Enthusiasts can look forward to more updates as Subaru Motorsports USA gears up for another exciting year.
