Toyota Achieves Historic First NHRA Manufacturers Cup Victory In 2024 Racing Season

Toyota has achieved a significant milestone by winning the NHRA Manufacturers Cup for the first time in its 23-year history of NHRA competition. The 2024 season marked the inclusion of the Top Fuel category in the Manufacturers Cup, contributing to Toyota's success alongside its achievements in Funny Car. This victory highlights Toyota's dominance in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

Throughout the 2024 season, Toyota secured 16 wins out of 20 NHRA events across both Top Fuel and Funny Car categories. Impressively, at least one Toyota-supported entry reached the final round in every event this year, extending their streak to 43 consecutive races with representation in the finals. Antron Brown clinched his second consecutive Top Fuel driver’s championship, marking Toyota’s eighth overall win in this category.

Paul Doleshal, group manager of motorsports at Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), expressed his delight over this achievement: "The 2024 NHRA season has been storybook for Toyota and to complete it with our first NHRA Manufacturers Cup is icing on the cake." Toyota supports six teams within NHRA’s Top Fuel and Funny Car categories. These include Kalitta Motorsports, Torrence Racing, AB Motorsports, SCAG Racing’s Top Fuel program, Ron Capps Motorsports, and DC Motorsports. Notable drivers who contributed to Toyota's success in 2024 are Antron Brown with six wins, Justin Ashley with four victories, Doug Kalitta with three wins, Shawn Langdon securing two wins, and Steve Torrence and J.R. Todd each achieving one win.

Since entering NHRA drag racing in 2002, Toyota has amassed eight Top Fuel and four Funny Car world championships through its supporting teams. In Top Fuel, champions include Antron Brown (2024, 2016, 2015, 2012), Doug Kalitta (2023), Shawn Langdon (2013), Del Worsham (2011), and Larry Dixon (2010). For Funny Car titles, Ron Capps (2022), J.R. Todd (2018), Del Worsham (2015), and Cruz Pedregon (2008) have brought home championships for Toyota.
