Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Launched In India At Rs 7.73 Lakh
Japanese carmaker Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser Taisor in India at a starting price of Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is offered with either a 1.2-litre engine or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The larger 1.2-litre option is offered in both petrol and CNG guises while the smaller, yet more powerful engine runs only on petrol.

The manual variants of the Urban Cruiser Taisor with the 1.2-litre engine start at Rs 7,73,500 for the base E MT. The S MT variant costs Rs 8,59,500 while the top-spec S+ MT is priced at Rs 8,99,500. The sole CNG variant is based on the E MT trim level and is priced at Rs 8,71,500.
The AMT versions of the Urban Cruiser Taisor start with the S AMT which commands a price of Rs 9,12,500 while the top-spec S+ AMT variant is priced at Rs 9,52,500.

The 1.0-litre versions of the Taisor equipped with the manual gearbox start at Rs 10,55,500 for the base G MT variant. The V MT version is priced at Rs 11,47,500 with the dual-tone version commanding Rs 11,63,500.
The automatic versions of the Taisor with the 1.0-litre engine start at Rs 11,95,500 for the G AT variant. The V AT variant of the Taisor costs Rs 12,87,500 while the dual-tone version costs Rs 13,03,500 (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).

Since we've already talked about the powertrain options of the new Urban Cruiser Taisor from Toyota, let's expand on them a bit more. Both powertrains are borrowed from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and offer identical outputs as their Suzuki-badged siblings.
The 1.2-litre engine of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor produces 89bhp and 113Nm of peak torque which is sent to the front wheels by either 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearboxes.

The smaller 1.0-litre engine is a turbocharged three-cylinder unit that pushes out 99bhp and 148Nm of peak torque. The engine sends power to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
In terms of design, Toyota has made a few changes to the new Urban Cruiser Taisor compared to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. These changes include new DRLs similar to the ones on the Hyryder while the redone grille looks similar to the one on the new Innova. The Toyota Taisor rides on new 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the only change to the cabin is the Toyota badge on the steering wheel with the Taisor also getting a new theme for the interior. Other than these two changes, the cabin has been carried over from the Fronx including features like the heads-up display, wireless charging, 360 camera and the large infotainment screen.
Thoughts About The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor sees the Toyota rebadge the Maruti Suzuki Fronx to return to the sub-4-metre SUV segment it had exited after binning the previous Urban Cruiser that was based on the previous-gen Brezza.
By keeping prices, especially for the Tiasor with the 1.0-litre engine kept close to those of the Fronx, Toyota looks ready to return with a vengeance to the highly-contested segment, which is surely a good thing for customers.
