Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Achieves 1 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has reached a significant milestone, becoming the second Maruti-rebadged model to surpass 1,00,000 units in wholesale sales in India. This achievement was reached in September 2024, nearly two years after its launch in September 2022. By the end of October 2024, the Hyryder had sold a total of 1,07,975 units.
In the first seven months (April to October), Toyota's Hyryder sales increased by 52% year on year (YoY) to 36,220 units. This accounted for about a quarter of Toyota's total utility vehicle wholesales of 1,47,351 units during this period. The company introduced the Hyryder Festival Limited Edition in early October to capitalise on the festive season's momentum.

Maruti Rebadged Models' Success
Toyota's strategy of introducing Maruti-rebadged models has proven successful following its global product-sharing agreement with Suzuki Corp. Currently, four badge-engineered models carry the Toyota logo in India: Rumion (based on Maruti Ertiga), Urban Cruiser Taisor (based on Maruti Fronx), Glanza, and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Between April and October 2024, these four models collectively dispatched 95,266 units. This represented 53% of Toyota's total passenger vehicle sales of 1,78,372 units during this timeframe. The Hyryder emerged as the bestselling among these rebadged models with sales of 36,220 units.
Hyryder's Position Among Rivals
The Hyryder faced stiff competition from other midsize SUVs like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Despite this competitive landscape, it ranked sixth in midsize SUV sales for FY2024. In terms of overall utility vehicle sales for the first half of FY2025, it secured the 19th position with dispatches totalling 30,771 units.
In FY2024 ending March 2024, Hyryder's despatches saw a remarkable increase of 114%, reaching 48,916 units. This growth highlights its strong performance amidst rivals such as Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
Comparative Sales Performance
In FY2024, among rebadged models Glanza and Hyryder; Glanza led with sales of 52,262 units compared to Hyryder's 48,916 units. However, during the first seven months of FY2025 (April-October), Hyryder outpaced Glanza by selling an additional 6,226 units.
