Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Set To Launch In India With Advanced Features By Mid-2025
Toyota has introduced its new electric vehicle, adopting the name Urban Cruiser from its existing model lineup. This electric car, set to debut in India, is a re-badged version of Maruti Suzuki's eVitara. Despite sharing a platform, Toyota assures distinct differences in design, performance, and features. The launch is anticipated by mid-2025, with an unveiling at the Bharat Mobility Show in January next year.
The Urban Cruiser EV will be showcased at major auto events like the Brussels Motor Show 2025. These exhibitions aim to generate interest and highlight the car's unique offerings. Toyota plans to offer two battery options: a 49 kWh pack and a 61 kWh pack. The smaller battery supports an electric motor producing 144 hp and 189 Nm torque, while the larger one offers 174 bhp with the same torque.

The range for the Urban Cruiser EV is projected between 430 km and 550 km on a full charge. This impressive range is complemented by advanced features. Toyota is incorporating ADAS technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision systems, lane keep assist, and lane departure alerts. These features enhance both safety and driving convenience.
In addition to safety features, the Urban Cruiser EV promises a rich infotainment experience. It will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen system alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Entertainment is further enhanced with a JBL audio system and connectivity options like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

To ensure passenger comfort and convenience, Toyota includes a wireless phone charger, electronic parking brake, sunroof, and ambient lighting in the Urban Cruiser EV. Safety is prioritized with six airbags and a 360-degree camera view for comprehensive visibility.
The introduction of this electric vehicle marks Toyota's entry into India's growing EV market. While Tata Motors has been a dominant player, MG has recently gained significant traction. Toyota aims to establish its presence with the Urban Cruiser EV's competitive features and performance.
As electric vehicles gain popularity in India, Toyota's Urban Cruiser EV is poised to attract attention with its blend of range, safety features, and modern technology. The upcoming showcases will provide further insights into its capabilities and appeal to potential buyers.
