Toyota Rumion G AT Automatic Variant Launched In India At Rs 13 Lakh: Bookings Now Open
Toyota has recently expanded its Rumion MPV lineup by introducing a new mid-spec automatic variant, the Rumion G AT. This addition provides buyers with the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission alongside the existing 5-speed manual gearbox.
Priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), the automatic variant commands a Rs 1.40 lakh premium over its manual counterpart. With bookings now open for a nominal amount of Rs 11,000, deliveries are set to commence in the first week of May.

Rumion G AT: A Closer Look
The introduction of the Rumion G AT fills a gap in the Rumion range. Before this update, the automatic transmission was limited to the base-spec S and top-spec V trims. The new G AT variant is strategically priced Rs 1.06 lakh above the S AT variant and Rs 73,000 below the top-spec V AT.
It retains the equipment list of its manual counterpart, including dual-tone alloy wheels, keyless entry, automatic climate control, and a 7.0-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, among others. However, it does not include some of the more premium features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, side airbags, and a rear camera.

Performance & Competition
Under the bonnet, the Toyota Rumion is powered by Maruti's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 103bhp and 137Nm. It is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The CNG variant, restricted to the manual transmission, offers 88bhp and 121.5Nm. Toyota has also resumed bookings for the Rumion CNG variant after a temporary halt due to high demand, which had led to extended waiting periods.

With a price range of Rs 10.44 lakh to Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Rumion MPV competes against the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and the Kia Carens. This expansion of the Rumion lineup with the new automatic variant aims to provide customers with more choices, catering to a wider range of preferences and budgets.
DriveSpark Thinks
In the ever-evolving MPV market in India, Toyota's addition of the Rumion G AT represents a strategic move to appeal to a broader audience by offering a blend of convenience, features, and performance. As deliveries begin, it remains to be seen how this new variant will fare against its competitors in a fiercely contested segment.
