Toyota North America Reveals Key Executive Changes At Manufacturing Plants

PLANO, Texas (May 3, 2024) – Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) has unveiled significant leadership transitions within its manufacturing operations across California, Missouri, and Tennessee, marking a new chapter in the company's extensive history in the United States. Jim Zehmer, the current president of TABC, Inc., is set to retire on June 17, 2024. Zehmer's career at Toyota spans over three decades, beginning in the finance team of TABC and eventually leading to various senior roles within the organization. His tenure as president saw the plant enhance its production capabilities significantly and reach a milestone of 50 years in manufacturing. Kevin Voelkel, senior vice president of vehicle plants at TMNA, praised Zehmer's dedication to Toyota's core values and his impactful leadership at TABC.

Oscar Villarreal, with over two decades of experience at Toyota in both Mexico and the United States, will take on the role of interim president at TABC. Villarreal currently serves as president of Toyota Baja California and chairperson of TABC.

Another notable retirement is that of Wes Woods, president of Toyota Missouri and Toyota Tennessee, effective June 3, 2024. Woods' career with Toyota covers more than 22 years, including his pivotal role in the establishment and launch of Toyota Alabama in 2003. Norm Bafunno, senior manufacturing executive at TMNA, commended Woods for his inclusive leadership and dedication to team members.

Todd Williams has been announced as Woods' successor for the presidency of Toyota Missouri and Toyota Tennessee. Williams brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at Toyota Tennessee as plant manager and has held various management positions throughout his 25-year career with the company.
