Toyota Set To Introduce Mini Fortuner FJ Cruiser In India By 2025
The Toyota Fortuner is a beloved car model in India, known for its robust design and luxurious features. Its high price, however, makes it inaccessible to many. Recently, there have been reports that Toyota plans to produce a smaller version of the Fortuner.
New information indicates that production of this mini Fortuner will commence soon. Manufacturing is set to begin in Thailand by the end of this year. Following this, production is expected to expand to other countries, including India, with an anticipated launch by the end of 2025.
The mini Toyota Fortuner will be marketed under the name Toyota FJ Cruiser. The pricing is expected to be similar to the Toyota Innova Crysta.
Currently, the Toyota Fortuner sells for over Rs. 60 lakhs on-road. The mini version is anticipated to be priced between Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 40 lakhs, though this is yet to be confirmed.

When launched, the mini Fortuner will compete with vehicles like the Mahindra Thar Rock. The company first showcased this mini version at a vehicle show in Japan in 2023 as a concept model.
It has now progressed to the production stage. This new car will be built on the IMV-O platform, promising both aesthetic appeal and unique features.
The wheelbase is expected to be similar to that of the Innova Crysta, which measures 2,750 mm, compared to the Fortuner's 4,795 mm wheelbase. In terms of features, the mini Fortuner will resemble models like the Hilux and Innova.
The dashboard is expected to mirror that of the Hilux, featuring a large touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Additional features may include automatic climate control and advanced car connectivity technology.

Engine Options
The mini Fortuner is likely to offer both petrol and diesel engine options similar to those found in the Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross models. This ensures a variety of choices for potential buyers.
Many more features are expected in this new SUV from Toyota. "Drivespark Opinion: In India, the Fortuner is considered to be the favorite car model of politicians and wealthy people. This car can handle all types of roads. Due to this unique talent, this car continues to have excellent demand in India."
The mini Fortuner aims to maintain the essence of its larger counterpart while being more affordable. This could make it a popular choice among those who admire the Fortuner but find it out of their budget range.
