Toyota Innova Hycross ZX Bookings Paused: Faces Overwhelming Demand
Toyota has once again stopped taking bookings for its high-demand Innova Hycross ZX and ZX (O) variants. This move comes after the company had previously paused and then resumed bookings for these models earlier in the year. The suspension is likely due to the overwhelming interest in these top-spec trims, both in hybrid and non-hybrid forms.
The Innova Hycross, available in both VX and VX (O) variants, currently faces a waiting period of up to 14 months, varying by location. This is notably higher than Toyota's flagship Vellfire, which has a 12-month waiting period.

The popularity of the Innova Hycross, contributing to nearly 25 percent of Toyota's sales in India, underscores its success. Even the non-hybrid variants, including the newly introduced GX (O) model, are in high demand, with waiting times reaching up to six months.
The GX (O) variant, available in both 7-seat and 8-seat configurations, boasts features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control, highlighting Toyota's commitment to offering premium amenities across its range.
With bookings now paused, potential buyers will miss out on the advanced features exclusive to the ZX, ZX (O) variants. These top-spec models are distinguished by LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a power back door.

Inside, amenities such as ventilated front seats, a powered Ottoman seat, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system enhance the driving experience. The ZX variant is priced at Rs 30.34 lakh (ex-showroom), and the ZX (O), featuring additional safety technologies, comes in at Rs 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
Unlike the VX and VX (O) models, the higher-end ZX and ZX (O) are offered solely in a 7-seat configuration, emphasizing their premium positioning. Safety features in the ZX (O) include a pre-collision system, auto high beam, and dynamic radar cruise control, making it a top choice for safety-conscious buyers.
Innova Hycross Vs Maruti Invicto
The rivalry between Toyota Innova Hycross and the Maruti Invicto, a rebadged version of the Hycross, presents an interesting market dynamic. Despite both models offering strong hybrid options, the Innova Hycross outperforms the Invicto in sales.

In April 2024, Invicto's sales were a mere 193 units, barely making a dent in Maruti's overall figures. This suggests that brand preference plays a significant role in consumer choice, with Toyota's Innova Hycross maintaining a lead over its Maruti counterpart.
DriveSpark Thinks
The repeated halting of bookings for the Innova Hycross's top variants highlights the model's popularity and the challenges in meeting its high demand. As Toyota works to address these booking pauses, it remains to be seen how this will impact the competitive landscape with Maruti's Invicto.
