Toyota has temporarily suspended the dispatch of 3 of its models - Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Hilux. According to sources, irregularities have come to light in the diesel engine horsepower certification testing for these models.

Toyota's internal investigation revealed that the testing process had been compromised. Essentially, the power and torque curves of the diesel engines were 'smoothed' out to exhibit less variation during certification testing.

Globally, ten models are affected, including six in Japan. Nonetheless, a Toyota spokesperson has clarified that the irregularities did not result in any false claims regarding horsepower or torque figures. More importantly, these inconsistencies have not impacted the emissions or safety of the vehicles in question.
Despite the suspension of dispatches, Toyota has made it clear that production and the acceptance of orders for the affected models will continue.
