Toyota Camry Launch Set For December 11th - Here's Everything We Know So Far
Japanese carmaker Toyota is all set to launch the new Camry sedan in India on the 11th of December. The new Toyota Camry, the ninth generation of the premium sedan to bear the name, was revealed to the world just over a year ago.
The new Camry continues its hybrid journey in its ninth avatar and comes with a host of changes inside and out with a revised exterior, a heavily updated cabin and an upgraded powertrain. So here's everything we know so far about the 9th gen Toyota Camry.

Updated Design
The new Camry still sits on the same platform as its predecessor, so the fact that the exteriors of the new XV80 generation of the Camry, have undergone an evolutionary change rather than a full-blown revolution isn't much of a surprise.
The new Camry seems to have taken a few design cues from previous-generation Lexus luxury sedans with the adoption of the Hammerhead grille and sleek LED headlights that seem to be inspired by the new Prius hybrid.
The sides of the new Camry feature pumped-up wheel arches hosting 19-inch alloy wheels and there are prominent body lines that run across the sides of the updated sedan, giving it a more aggressive look compared to its predecessor. The rear features updated taillights and a bootlip spoiler.

Big Tech Interior Update
The interiors of the new Camry have been quite the tech upgrade with two 12.3-inch screens acting as the displays for the instrumentation and infotainment setups with the latter supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and sending tunes to your ears through a 9-speaker premium audio system from JBL.
The cabin is offered in 2, two-tone options - light grey and black along with red and black - which will be complemented by aluminium pedals and leather upholstery for the seats (ventilated) and steering wheel. The cabin also features a large panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and a wireless phone charger.

Hybrid Powerplant Gets Slight Upgrade
The new 9th generation Camry is the first to drop the V6 and is now offered in regular inline-four and hybrid inline 4 guises. In India, the previous-gen Camry sported a hybrid setup with a 2.5-litre inline-four and an electric motor paired to a CVT gearbox that put out 215bhp.
For the ninth-generation Camry, Toyota has updated the 2.5-litre hybrid setup and paired it with an e-CVT gearbox. This version of the Camry is now offered in both front-wheel drive (222bhp) and all-wheel drive (229bhp) guises with the former expected to make its way into India.

The new Camry for India like its predecessor is expected to be assembled at Toyota's manufacturing facility in Karnataka's Bidadi. The new Toyota Camry is expected to command a premium over the current model's price tag as it once again looks to go after German offerings like the Mercedes A-Class Limousine and the BMW 2 Series.
